Places to go, People to see, Things to eat…
by Ryan on Oct.22, 2007, under America, Food, Funny, Vancouver, Canada
So our home sickedness continues. We are most likely (~85% chance) coming home for Christmas break. This is good but it makes me only plan and thus miss things more.
So as the heading of my post implies… things to go to and eat while home:
1. Pizza – They serve the equivalent of Elio’s in restaurants here.
2. Cheesecake Factory – Please Please tell me I didn’t miss the Pumpkin Cheesecake!!
3. Coldstone Creamery – Please Please tell me I didn’t miss the Pumpkin Icecream!!
4. Diner – I miss you so much Cheeseburger Deluxe.
5. Museums / Art Gallery – Seeing photos with new eyes… the only one here is like a wing of one back home.
6. Rice to Riches – Nuff said.
7. Gray’s Papaya – Oh hot dogs… let’s never fight again…
8. Home – See everyone… AND eat real Filipino food.
9. Poonam’s House – Real Falalalalafals.
10. McDonald’s Breakfast – WHY OH WHY ARE THERE NO BISCUITS ANYWHERE?!??!?
As they say here… eh… for sure…. no doubt!!!
Harry Potter, Gas, McDonald’s, Movies

Harry Potter
We saw Harry Potter the other night. An enjoyable film all around. Having never, almost refusing to have, read the books I always enjoy the movies. Great stories in a pretty cool world. I was sad to see so little of Malfoy or my personal favorites… Crab and Goyle. I do enjoy seeing Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort…. you know… The Red Dragon… It’s all I can picture in my head…
I was thinking of actually picking up all the books and reading them… I have a month of nothingness anyway… Either that or more camera stuff… What to do…
FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT GAS PRICES:
Gas here is about $1.10… per LITERS…
1 gallon is about 3.79 liters….
1.10 * 3.79 liters = $4.17 per gallon
McDonald’s
We picked up McDonald’s after Harry Potter… you order at the window… They have someone hired to stand there in the window and take your order…. you drive up to the next window and someone else’s job is to get your food… O_o
Movies
We’ve seen Tranformers and Harry Potter… Next up Ratatouille and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Live Free or Die Hard and Hairspray… Sadly… that’s literally all that’s playing in the movie theatre…
About to leave the country…
by Ryan on Jul.14, 2007, under Food, Photos, Roadtrip
Final post from America…
We’re packing to leave the country right now in Seattle. All our bags are almost packed and our paperwork is hopefully in check. Our next post will be from Canada.
Final Thoughts…
-If you’re ever in Seattle, WA definitely go to Sport right across from the Space Needle. Kobe Burgers… Chili with real chunks of meat… Amazing Crab dip with real and huge pieces of crab…
-Also go to La Belle Vita… Amazing Bruschetta
-Oh.. and I Love Sushi… delicious all around…
-Make sure you review the hotel you’re going to stay in before you book it…
-VZNavigator (not a shameless plug from a former employee) is probably the single thing that got us across country and fed safely…
-I’ve never ordered a gyro for myself… I think I tried it once before but I’ve don’t remember it…
-Doing a quick Google map of our future area… lots of restaurants and shoppes… and everything… please feel free to donate money to the Ryan and Kat Monies Fund… only .45 cents a day from everyone who reads this will make sure that Ryan and Kat eat Sushi and be clothed and be able to watch movies… (We haven’t seen Ratouttouille, Transformers, or Harry Potter!!! FOR SHAME!!!!)
Anyway Canada… here we come!!!!
I swear we’re still alive…

Hey everyone!!
I know! I know! No updates! But we’ve had difficulties and activities that’ve prevented our updates!
Since I’ve last attempted we’ve been to:
-Iowa (driven through) and Sioux City
-Keystone, South Dakota
-Wyoming for Yellowstone
-Drove through Montana and Idaho
And today we’re in Spokane, Washington. Tomorrow and the next Seattle. Saturday is Vancouver.
It’s late once again.. but before I forget…
-Driving… Once you get used to it… for hours at a time… isn’t as bad as you’d think.
-Research hotels throughly… don’t just book off of price alone… Trust me.
-Dinosaur BBQ is awesome… We had it in Syracuse… There’s one in NYC… Definitely eat there… Try the BBQ Beans, Ribs, Wings… anything…
-Niagara Falls was amazing. Definite must see. Do the Maid of the Mist… or as I affectionately call it… Maid of the Torrential Downpour
-Cleveland is dead after 5:00 PM.
-Skip the Sears Tower and head straight for Navy Pier in Chicago… It’s not as gay as it sounds.
-Iowa… has a lot… non… a hell of a lot of corn… that’s it.
-Sioux City pretty much was dead too.
-Mount Rushmore was pretty awesome… The Crazy Horse Monument… Even better… hope they get to finish it.
-Yellowstone is very high.
-Rte 16 in WY is definitely the most scenic highway ever.
-Yellowstone is very large.
-Ole Faithful… wasn’t what I expected… “that’s it…”
-Yellowstone is very high and very large.
-Spokane has a lot of restaurants.
POTD:
Kat at Niagara… idn’t she adorable!!! ::AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!::
More to come. I swear… just give us time.
P.S. We’re safe and happy. The same go for our cats Raspberry and Tulip. Thanks for all the concern!
Things to do… Places I saw…
by Ryan on Jun.25, 2007, under Food, Photo of the Day, Photos
Here we are on the cusp of leaving the country and I’m not even close to ready. I have to pack up my room (… still haven’t started), go to the consulate, finish everything I need to do at VZW, finish planning the roadtrip, book hotels, bring the cats in to the vet, clean out my car, ship things to canada, get my finances in order, and a myriad of other things… so many in fact that I can’t even remember the rest.
Instead of doing all this through the weekend however I:
- Friday : Slept on Friday… Self explanatory.
- Saturday : Went to the city with Kat, random guy, and Ang… Good times. Went to have Dim Sum at The Golden Unicorn, then went to The Guggenheim, visited Top of the Rock, ate again at Gray’s Papaya, then had Rice to Riches, and finished off with a failed attempt to have Sour Cream donuts at Dunkin Donuts… Overall great trip… but really tiring…
- Sunday : Falafalalalalals and barbeque – went to Ibby’s Falafals and barbecue’d at Eddie’s house. Good times were had by all. I’m really going to miss crazy VZ employees… it’s what made working there worth it.
Anyway… off to start boxing… enjoy…
POTD:
Awesome view from the Top of the Rock. A bit pricey. Not much to do. But definitely an awe inspiring view. I want to go back at nighttime… Not the greatest of shots… but potential for future photos…
